Wendy Banks
What is your job title and

I’m studying to become a
personal trainer and certified nutritionist
Tell us about yourself.
I am a wife and mom of three
grown sons. I have battled with depression and anxiety for all of my adult life
and have PTSD from childhood sexual abuse by a family member. I began working
out and running two years ago and found it to be very therapeutic. I am now
studying to become a personal trainer, nutrition coach and running coach so
that I can help others learn to deal with their mental health while improving
their physical health.
Have you participated in the
Don’t Quit Half Marathon & 5K before?
In 2019, I ran the Don’t Quit
5K for the first time. I plan to run the half marathon this year.
Why are you running in this
year’s Don’t Quit Half Marathon & 5K?
I support the cause! Running
has helped me cope with my depression and I want others to know that running
can help them mentally as well!
What does “Don’t Quit” mean
to you?
To me, “Don’t Quit” means to
not give up. Keep fighting. Don’t let depression win! As I have gone through
therapy, I have learned that if I quit, if I give up, if I let depression win,
it passes my pain to my family to deal with. I don’t want them to have to live
the rest of their lives with my pain. It means that there will be better days
ahead!
Do you have any tips for
someone who may be struggling with mental health issues?
Get help! Go to counseling,
talk to a friend or family member. Do not just sit and let depression lie to
you. Get up and fight it! There are people that understand and that will
listen. You are not alone!

control you.” - Dan Millman
